Donald Baechler was born in Hartford Connecticut in 1956, his painting career began to bloom internationally in the early 1980s. Some of his works are permanently in the Whitney Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Stedlijk Museum in Amsterdam and the Centre George Pompidou in Paris. Baechler creates compelling images within his paintings, going through multiple layers of underpainting, overpainting, canceling, adding, subtracting, and editing until the end result emerges.
